Hazard & Risk Assessment

Each hazard is assessed against a standard Likelihood × Severity matrix. “Initial Risk” reflects the risk before any control measures are applied; “Residual Risk” reflects the risk once the stated controls are correctly implemented on site.

Hazard

Electric Shock / Mains Isolation

Control: Isolate main supply at consumer unit, lock out / tag out (LOTO), test dead using proved voltage indicator before terminating.

Hazard

Ground Trenching / Underground Services

Control: Conduct CAT & Genny scan before excavating cable trench. Hand-dig within 0.5m of known service routes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a site-specific RAMS for domestic EV charger installs?

Yes. Under CDM 2015, all construction and electrical installation work—including domestic jobs—requires adequate risk planning.

Do I need to keep a copy of this RAMS on site?

Yes. HSE guidance expects a copy of the RAMS — along with the completed sign-off section — to be available on site for the duration of the work, and reviewed if site conditions change.
