Method Statement — Sequence of Work

  1. Review this RAMS and confirm site conditions match those described before work begins.
  2. Brief all operatives on the hazards, controls and PPE requirements below (toolbox talk).
  3. Check and don all required PPE, and inspect tools and equipment before use.
  4. Carry out the task in line with the control measures set out in the Hazard & Risk Assessment section below.
  5. Maintain good housekeeping throughout — keep the work area tidy and manage waste and materials safely.
  6. On completion, remove tools and equipment, restore the work area, and report any incidents, near misses or changes in site conditions to the site supervisor.
  7. Complete the sign-off section at the end of this document before leaving site.

Hazard & Risk Assessment

Each hazard is assessed against a standard Likelihood × Severity matrix. “Initial Risk” reflects the risk before any control measures are applied; “Residual Risk” reflects the risk once the stated controls are correctly implemented on site.

Hazard

Falls from Height Accessing Ceiling Voids

Control: Use a podium step or tower for above-ceiling cable pulling, never overreaching from a stepladder into a ceiling void.

Working in Confined Ceiling & Riser Spaces

Control: Use adequate task lighting and check for asbestos-containing materials or other hazards in older ceiling voids before disturbing tiles.

Manual Handling of Cable Reels & Containment

Control: Use a cable reel stand and trolley for heavy drums, and team-lift lengths of cable tray or basket into position.

Fire-Stopping of Cable Penetrations

Control: Fire-stop all cable penetrations through fire-rated walls and floors to the specification, restoring compartmentation on completion.
