Hazard & Risk Assessment

Each hazard is assessed against a standard Likelihood × Severity matrix. “Initial Risk” reflects the risk before any control measures are applied; “Residual Risk” reflects the risk once the stated controls are correctly implemented on site.

Hazard

Chainsaw Use (Ground & Aerial)

Control: Only operatives holding a valid chainsaw certificate (e.g. CS30/CS31) to use chainsaws. Chain brake and PPE checked before every start-up.

Falls During Tree Climbing/Aerial Work

Control: Use a climbing system with two independent attachment points or a MEWP for aerial work, in line with the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

Falling Limbs & Struck-By Hazards
