Method Statement — Sequence of Work

  1. Review this RAMS and confirm site conditions match those described before work begins.
  2. Brief all operatives on the hazards, controls and PPE requirements below (toolbox talk).
  3. Check and don all required PPE, and inspect tools and equipment before use.
  4. Carry out the task in line with the control measures set out in the Hazard & Risk Assessment section below.
  5. Maintain good housekeeping throughout — keep the work area tidy and manage waste and materials safely.
  6. On completion, remove tools and equipment, restore the work area, and report any incidents, near misses or changes in site conditions to the site supervisor.
  7. Complete the sign-off section at the end of this document before leaving site.

Hazard & Risk Assessment

Each hazard is assessed against a standard Likelihood × Severity matrix. “Initial Risk” reflects the risk before any control measures are applied; “Residual Risk” reflects the risk once the stated controls are correctly implemented on site.

Hazard

Radon Gas Exposure During Sub-Floor Works

Control: Ventilate the work area throughout sump installation and testing, minimising time spent in unventilated sub-floor voids and following the radon action plan for the property.

Initial Risk: HighResidual Risk: Low
Hazard

Working in Confined Sub-Floor & Crawl Spaces

Control: Assess access and ventilation before entering sub-floor voids, keeping a second person aware of the work location throughout.

Power Tool Use When Breaking Through Floor Slabs

Fan Unit Electrical Installation

Control: Install and wire the radon sump fan to a fused spur or dedicated circuit in line with BS 7671, positioning it for accessible future maintenance.
